Peakshole Water

Original oil painting size 10" x 8" on MDF 6mm panel, primed with gesso, and includes a certificate of authenticity. Although a small painting, about 35 hours went into this artwork. There is a lot of small intricate detail in the foliage and wild flowers. which added to a great deal of time. The scene is of a favourite spot of mine a stones throw from the Derbyshire village of Castleton, and popular with walkers connecting Castleton with the village of 'Hope', following the beautiful little stream of water named Peakshole Water. There is a spot part way along, where the water forms a large deep pool of calm water, perfect for a dog swim on a sunny warm day as is in the painting. This is the reason I chose this particular spot. John is a Manchester based landscape artist, capturing tranquillity and beauty in nature in a style of realism the viewer can lose themselves in.
