One of our large limited edition life-size Giclee print, Chinon 529 offers you a chance to own a piece of textile history.

Date: Est 1980s Origin: Ghent, Belgium & Cysoing. France

This brightly coloured tapestry work originates with the French weaver Bergerot of Cysoing. They commissioned the work with a Flemish design studio in the mid-1980s.

The original point paper production number 107444 was created in 1985. The work has two panels, each with a very detailed table on the reverse detailing the 21 weaves allocated to the 6-warp coloured tapestry. The Bergerot mill used their tried and tested quality formula of weaves ref 8567 to weave this pattern on their study tapestry Jacquard fabric.

The artist is anonymous but will have had a cheerful disposition judging by the brightly coloured paints they chose to create this striking artwork.

The point paper was acquired in 2017 when the factory in Cysoing was being renovated after the weaver had ceased trading a few years earlier.

Printed on 300gsm Fujifilm Fine Art Etch Paper Supplied unframed though we will frame by arrangement. Accompanied by a document explaining the origin and history of the design. Measuring 76cm wide by 85cm high. The print has an additional 2 cm plain border to facilitate your framer.
