In the bicentennial of John Ruskin's birth, internationally acclaimed photographer, Tim Fisher is collaborating with a number of painters represented by the gallery, overlaying his own b&w photographs with (colour images) of paintings from the gallery in the style of Pictorialism.

"..a pictorial photograph ..... printed in one or more colours other than black-and-white .... and may have visible brush strokes or other manipulation of the surface. For the pictorialist, a photograph, like a painting, drawing or engraving, was a way of projecting an emotional intent into the viewer's realm of imagination." Wikipedia.

This project is a response to Ruskin's "The Storm-Cloud of the Nineteenth Century" Lectures of 1886, two men's observations of the skies, weather, land and the light in the Lake District National Park, taken from one vantage point, continuing an ongoing pictorial dialogue between one visionary man's projection of our likely shared futures and one man's photographic view of landscape through photography and painting.
