Sue’s current work is based on old Italian frescoes. The Peeling fractured ancient paintings of the Sassi in Southern Italy took her breath away. Her interpretation of these ancient frescoes is revealed in paintings distressed and made to look as though they are from another age. Hints of gold and bronze appear among the earth colours she paints with. Working energetically trying to recall a memory or feeling, which then evokes a similar response in the viewer.
