Max Gottlieb 'Interconnected'

2020 ​ 60" x 50" ​ Acrylic on Canvas Max Gottlieb has worked as a film production designer for over thirty years. His paintings have developed over the last 5 years and he draws on a rich seem of understanding of how we both create and receive images. Max Creates abstract paintings with acrylic on canvas combining gestural marks with disciplined hard edge shapes and symbols. Using varied tools such as mop, rubber scrapers, pallet knife and squeegee, his work explores organic and gestural marks that have their own integrity and here, we witness organic versus plastic. Colour is vibrant in Max’ painting, a feature that has emerged from his experience in film. In this selection colour combinations are influenced by media and our online world, emojis, symbols, text abbreviations, are presented and reference how we view the world largely from 2D devices. ​
