Ian Irvine is a printmaker and collage artist. Found and appropriated images have always formed a part of his practice and he creates from a diverse range of images such as C18th and C19th paintings, auction catalogues and medical and scientific drawings. The interventions that he makes disrupt the narrative of these individual images and create new realities that are often darker in tone, perhaps sinister, frequently humorous, and always surreal.
